The massage that can be done, can help exercise your skin to help make it more firm, supple and younger looking. When doing your own facial massage, you should lie flat on the back on a flat surface, with the head as close to the edge as possible. If you are having a massage done by someone, have them positioned as near your face as possible.

The proper facial massage should be started at the forehead and the temples, working downwards. Use upward motions starting at the eyebrows and working your way up to the hairline. The person doing the facial massage will have to use pressure where needed and repeat the exact same pattern at least five times. It is best to use the middle fingers to press gently on and around the temples of the head using circular motions. This will help to relieve any tension that may be built up on the facial muscles.

Next start on the cheeks, using upward circular motions that caress the cheeks. Try not to pull on any skin and make sure this is done as gently as possible. Make little circles around the jawline and the cheekbones using upward swipes. For the eyes, gently use swipes with your fingers.

The neck is one of the most important parts of a facial massage and it can also be one of the most neglected parts of a facial massage. You will need to caress the neck as it typically helps to improve circulation. When doing a neck massage, start at the clavicles and stroke the neck in an upward motion while running your fingers along the expanse of the neck and the back side of the neck. Continue to work in an upward motion all the way from the clavicle, to the chin line all the way to and stopping at the lower lip.

The end of the facial massage should be done by using your finger to lightly tap the face and the neck areas.
